Lovely and peaceful staycation. Enjoyed the fresh eggs from the hens and a beautiful jacuzzi to a lovely view of the lake. House was wall maintained and clean! A bit chilly due to the lake but after starting the fire place and using the heater, house was warm and cozy to enjoy. Enjoyed the sunrise and saw the southern lights for a beautiful ending! We stayed here in 2019 and were so pleased we could stay again. It's very close to the beach, just a couple of minutes' walk down the path to the water. It feels like our old childhood cottages in Canada. There is everything you could possibly need and more. The kitchen is well-stocked and well-equipped. It's just a few minutes to Dargaville which has grocery and liquor stores, a pharmacy, shopping and many restaurants and cafes. Sharkey's, just up the road, serves meals (also take away) and drinks and has great ice cream, as well as a small selection of groceries and souvenirs. It's a very popular place. Part of the charm for us was the lack of wifi, although there was a newer TV. Getting away from the rat race is what we looked forward to. The fresh air, hearing the waves at night and a super comfortable bed gave us the rest and relaxation we needed after nearly 5 weeks on the road. The weather wasn't good enough for us to use the lovely deck or barbecue, but we could enjoy the beautiful view from the living-dining area and the master bedroom. It felt like home.
