The house is beautiful, clean and luxurious. High tech water and room heaters. You can even fill the bathtub from the kitchen. Love the bathtub! It's so well-designed and has a window where you can look out or breathe in the clean crisp forest air. Beds and linens very comfortable! Kitchen amenities are top-knotch : toaster oven, microwave, pour-over tea kettle, a 2-burner electric stove, a large sink, an awesome fridge, nice pots and pans, coffee machine etc. The amazing washer cum dryer clothes washer is a definite bonus, as after 2weeks of travel, I needed clean clothes. The bathroom doubles as a drying room if you set the mode to clothes drying.....omg so gooood! Everything was nice, but my absolute favourite is the beautiful surroundings of this little house, where the forest and it's animals melt your stress away. Yes, you can get awoken by the resident pheasant, the bird that sounds EXACTLY like the grandfather's cuckoo clock and the loving pair of pigeons cooing in the trees, but this beats city noise hands down! Attractions like the Prince shopping plaza and Church street, as well as cafes and grocery stores are minutes away by car or bicycle. It does rain a lot so driving is advisable. Highly recommended for a getaway!

Hospitality - we had the privilege of being received by the owner, Satoko-san herself and we are grateful for her assistance, professionalism and patience shown before and during our trip. Location - unbeatable location a stone’s throw away from karuizawa’s old ginza street where you can walk to shop, dine and bask in all the hype the key attraction brings. Key must dos are within easy reach (famous gelato L’ibisco, cafe suzunone, and historic sites are literally a turn away from the house entrance). Home decor - now where do i start. The house is so tastefully renovated and is a true reflection of the owner’s eye for design. We are glad to have made this our “home” in Karuizawa as it has everything we needed need to survive in comfort as a family (we were a group of 4 adults and 1 toddler). Value for money - prior to booking, we did consider the more upmarket properties and it is very clear to us that hilton/hoshinoya do not offer as much value for money for my family. We appreciated the space - living room for night huddles, kitchen for simple heating of food for my child, private garden to take all the nice photos l away from prying eyes…! And even a parking lot that is just at our door step. Amenities - it has everything we need (a functioning kitchen with dishwasher, full size fridge, stocked cutlery)… even washer/dryer, toothbrush, french labelled body soap, shampoo, lotion and toilet scent are provided in the toilets! The master rubbish chute was a comfortable walk/short drive away in case you require any trash disposal of food waste.
